About Membership
Membership to the Okinawa Karatedo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai can help you grow your knowledge and help instructors provide higher quality instruction and more material to offer their students. Our goal is NOT to provide ranking to just anyone who applies but to provide benefits and education to our members.
Benefits Of Membership
There are many benefits to joining our organization so let's break it down for you.
1. Transitioning to Shorin Ryu Karatedo
If you so desire you can transition what you are training in / teaching to a traditional branch of Okinawa Shorinryu Karatedo specifically Kobayashi Ryu. This will allow you to help preserve a old tradition while also exploring new and exciting ideas. Okinawan karate's traditions should be preserved but the understanding of the techniques should be explored and understood. This will also give you the opportunity to achieve rank in Kobayashi Ryu.
2. Learning & Adding Okinawa Kobudo To Your Curriculum
We are excited to offer a traditional Okinawan Kobudo (Okinawan Weapons) training curriculum that you can learn and eventually gain ranking in to be able to expand your knowledge of the Bo, Tonfa, Sai, Nunchaku, Kama, Eku, Tekko, Tichu & Nunti Bo. This will allow you to provide true weapons kata and technique to your students or just add to your own knowledge. Many make up kata or adapt from empty hand kata this will allow you to learn true kobudo.
3. Seminars & Training Camps
The Honbu Dojo will host an annual training seminar that is open to members and non members alike. This is a great way to expand your knowledge and get a feel for what we are about. You can also host Hanshi Fisher at your event or dojo for a seminar for a nominal fee. If extensive travel is required the host would be required to cover travel expenses as well.
4. Rank Advancement
Though this is far from the goal of our association we do have the option for those who are independant as a result of the loss of their instructor or separation due to unforseen or unfortunate circumstances we can arrange evaluation for rank advancement.
Note we will only consider traditional styles (dento ryuha) that has lineage through Shuri Te or Tomari Te branches. We DO NOT recognize any self made styles / Soke. If you are not of the Shorinryu lineage your grade be recognized in Karatedo. If you are a Isshinryu stylist we will put you in touch with our friend and advisor Hanshi Andy Sloane and his decision is final on anyhing concerning Isshin Ryu. Contact us for details.

All applications must be accompanied by copies of your last 3 rank advancments at the minimum.
Upon an initial $50 fee for 1 year of trial membership and time for research into the applicants background. After the first year the fee is simply $20 per year. Instructors who are Jun Shibu or Shibu directors may request rank certificates for their students that are members for $15 per kyu grade certificate. Upon acceptance into the Okinawa Karatedo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai you will recent a beautiful 11x17 membership certificate and patch. Contact Us for more details.
