Sempai Kaulin Hooper, Shodan

My name is Kaulin Hooper and I was born November 24, 1992. I was born in Mesa, Arizona where I stayed for 6 years until moving to Beachwood, Ohio. I attend Beachwood City School. Sports are a huge part of my life and I love playing them. When I was young I played soccer, football, and baseball recreationally. My brother began taking karate classes through the recreation department and I soon followed. While studying in Beachwood I continued to play sports. Once I hit middle school I stopped a lot of sports and set my mind to soccer and karate. Sensei Brandon Fisher split from the Beachwood Recreation program and I followed his footsteps to further improve my karate training. I have a lot of experience in tournaments. I have been to many where I have won and many where I have lost. I enjoy helping new students at tournaments because I remember my first tournament that I went to and I was freaked out. Now when I go it’s a fun challenge instead of a scary one. To this date I continue my karate training with my 2 brothers and continue playing soccer. I play on a premier team that plays teams from all over Ohio. I play electric guitar because music is also important to me. I love having fun and enjoying life however it comes.

A black belt is not a trophy to show off to friends or a weapon to threaten or scare anyone. A black belt represents who you are and shows a person’s dedication. Having a black belt would be another step in the pursuit of karate excellence.

My karate story has been one of adventure and excitement. If I could go back in time in my karate life, the only thing that I would change would be to have begun earlier. Other than that I would never trade anything. Karate is one of the best things that have ever happened to me and I’m very glad that I got into it.
